SAMADHI SATHKARA INC.
Samadhi Sathkara Inc is a registered charity under the Australian Government Incorporation Act 1981 and has been operating in Australia since 2016. The Association is also registered as a charitable and non-profitable religious organisation with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC).
The main purpose of the organisation is to uplift the spiritual wellbeing of devotees and the wider community through improving their knowledge of the Buddhist philosophy. In this insatiable world, Lord Buddha’s key teaching of four noble truths is the beacon light for the eternal bliss of nibbāna. Samadhi Sathkara is devoted to spreading that message to fellow Australians to achieve a luminous mind through meditation and discussions of the Buddhist philosophy.
'Samadhi Sathkara' was established under the guidance of most Venerable Rev. Walasmulle Abhaya Thero, as the Australian chapter to spread the teachings of Lord Buddha. Under the guidance of the Most Venerable Walasmulle Abhaya Thero, Samadhi Sathkara provides spiritual guidance to Theravada Buddhist congregations in Australia. In addition to leading the Buddhist congregation in sermons and conducting numerous other religious services, we also conduct meditation programs and dhamma discussions.
We conduct meditation programs and dhamma discussions in English and Sinhalese languages and anyone seeking spiritual guidance is welcome to attend.
You can join Samadhi Sathkara as a member to be informed about our regular programs.

'Samadhi' is the state of intense concentration achieved through meditation. In Buddhism, it is also the last element of the noble eightfold path leading to nibbāna
CHIEF PRECEPTOR

Most Venerable Rev. Walasmulle Abhaya Thero was ordained in Sri Lanka as a Buddhist monk after leaving his successful career as an engineer and a psychological counsellor. He has many years of meditation experience and a wealth of knowledge of Lord Buddha’s teachings, including that of Theravada Buddhist theology and its scriptures, traditions and practices.
He is responsible for performing Theravada Budddhist rituals, administering Theravada Buddhist ceremonies and Dhamma discussions, conducting Theravada Buddhist meditation programs and overseeing and teaching to the devotees all aspects and concepts of Theravada Buddhism and its philosophy.
He first visited Australia in December of 2017, and conducted programs in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, and Brisbane. Each program was structured as a five-day dhamma discussion followed by a 10-day meditation program.

At the end of his tour in Australia, devotees wanted to continue their spiritual path and thus “Samadhi Sathkara” was formed. Since then, Ven. Abhaya Thero visited Australia twice, in 2018 and in 2019/20 giving his blessings to the organisation.
